The video created by Sean Ohlenkamp, displays a perfect book heaven, set in a Toronto book store. This creative piece highlights the vibrancy and life of the printed word and generates a sense of nostalgia for the bookshop experience. Sean Ohlenkamp shares the booklovers dream of displaying books efficiently and creatively into well organised bookshelves via some clever animation. The books are brought to life using perfect motion, making the moving colours a highly attractive visual experience. The book store’s aesthetically pleasing environment together with the animation emphasises the value in the proper placement of books. The video’s animation is perfectly complimented by using music by Grayson Matthews which generates excitement in the viewer.

Miniature Library House

Galperina, M. 2012, Let’s build a miniature library “house” in Brooklyn, viewed 27 February 2012,

In her blog, Marina Galperina draws attention to new initiative and functional artwork titled 'the hundred story house'.   The project undertaken by Brooklyn artist Leon Reid IV and film producer Julia Marchesi, speaks to the changing nature of 'book lending' in today's modern world.  The interactive artwork featured in the piece, highlights the parallel between community and library as the principal draw of this project.  The aesthetic appeal of the 'house' coupled with the take-a-book, leave-a-book lending functions, uses art and the published word to start a conversation and promote learning in its surrounds.  Ms Galperina effectively utilises this interactive artwork as an example of the benefits published works can bring to a community and suggests that the increasingly popular digital alternative is detrimental to social inclusion agenda.
